We finally made it out of Erie, PA and headed to Dunkirk, NY on a Thursday. We’d heard there was a long municipal wall that we could pull up to, and bonus, it was free! We’d also heard that the town wasn’t much to look at and there really wasn’t much to do there, but we just needed a place to stop on our way to Buffalo, so figured this would work out nicely.
The other boat we’d been in the anchorage with in Erie had arrived before us and were ready to catch our lines. As we got tied up and settled in, we noticed there was a stage on the end of the large wall and folks were setting up instruments and speakers. Our first thought was that we’d arrived a day too early and were going to miss some live music, but we quickly realized that something was indeed going on that night. It was the final concert in Dunkirk’s summer music series and we were treated to a CCR tribute band, The Bayou Boys, who ended up being pretty decent, albeit a bit loud since we were tied pretty darn close to the stage.
Dinner ended up being a couple of hot dogs from a street vendor and we spent the evening becoming quick friends with the Skelton Crew on Hullabaloo. We’d heard that we’d meet boats along the way and make lifelong friends in an instant, but being the shy folk that we are…well, we just weren’t sure! I’m quite certain now that we just made our first set of lifelong friends on this journey! Ron & Jackie rock!

September 3, 2015 at 9:19 pmHeaded in the same general direction for now! Whereas we think we will head back to Florida in May, have the boat hauled and stored there, and head back to Michigan, Ron and Jackie plan to continue further south past the Bahamas and stay in the Caribbean.
