Are You Ready For Some Football?

We are! For those of you who don’t know us very well, Jim and I both graduated from Ohio State a few years ago (give or take a few years!) and we are die-hard Ohio State Buckeye fans. We’ve spent close to 30 years living in Wolverine territory just about 20 miles away from the University of Michigan, which has made for some interesting game watching experiences at local bars when we couldn’t get the game on network TV (we’re not TV watchers otherwise, so haven’t had cable in some time)!

We find ourselves motoring through the Erie Canal today, on opening day for our Buckeyes, and thus we must find somewhere to watch the game tonight. Two out of the last three nights have been spent tied up to walls right next to the locks, all by ourselves with just the other boat we’ve been traveling with to keep us company. We’ve loved these stops as they’ve been very quiet and peaceful. Tonight, however, we must find civilization! And by civilization, of course, I mean a bar with the game on TV!

Go Bucks!!!

Hi! Tom feels your pain..he’s from Ohio and loves the Buckeyes.

Hey, did you guys decide if you’re going to transit the Gulfstream from Charleston, Norfolk or Miami? Some leave from Savannah but that is a very nasty inlet.

      Hi Willow,

We ended up staying in a marina (really just another wall) in Ilion, NY last night. It wasn’t a free wall, so we had to pay $36, but for that we got electric, water, restrooms, showers, laundry and best of all….CABLE TV!!! They let us borrow a cable and we were able to watch the game in the comfort/sweltering heat of our own boat!

As far as making the crossing to the Bahamas, we will leave from somewhere around the Miami area, and it won’t be until mid to late December sometime.

We got to watch the game!!! We stayed in a marina/tied to a wall that had cable TV, so we borrowed a cable from them, hooked up, and watched the game in the boat! We were soooo happy!

A bar with a TV or a marina with cable. Haha had fun watching with you guys.

We figure the $36 we spent for the marina was cheaper than it would have been to hang out at a bar for the whole game! Maybe not quite as comfy (air conditioning would have been nice!), but a heck of a lot easier!
